Stabbed teen bleeds to death as cops insist on paperwork

The Madhya Pradesh home department has sought a report on the stabbing of an Indore teenager who bled to death on Tuesday as police officials allegedly insisted on completing paperwork instead of rushing him to hospital.
Ravi Dangi, 19, and his 18-year-old friend were stabbed after they tried to reason with one Sanju Jerma, 20, who was repeatedly harassing a girl they considered their sister.Minutes after being confronted, Jerma returned with three associates and allegedly stabbed Dangi and his friend in Rajendra Nagar locality. Dangi died in a hospital. His friend is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

Police arrested Sanju and another accused, Arun Bhil, 20, on Wednesday. Their associates are on the run.

Police are under pressure to explain the alleged delay in getting Dangi medical assistance.

“I pleaded for an ambulance standing a few metres behind the Rajendra Nagar police station, but the officials said they would take the injured to hospital only after completing the paperwork,” Dangi’s younger brother Nanu said.

“My brother lay bleeding.”

Rajendra Nagar police station SHO Dilip Singh denied Nanu’s allegation.

State home minister Uma Shankar Gupta  said,”Human life cannot be allowed to go waste for completing official formalities,” he said.
